Guimaras Island

This page is under construction.

Guimaras is among the smalest provinces and is an island province of the Philippines located in the Western Visayas region. Its capital is Jordan.  Guimaras is a haven for laid back, stress free, fun in the sun island experience you won't forget.

Getting There

Best way to get to the island is from Iloilo City.  Take a boat ride from the Port of San Pedro to Jordan Wharf in Guimaras Island.  It takes about 15 to 20 minutes of clear blue water in between.  From the wharf there are a lot of choices to get around the island.  You can take the jeepney or tricycle that usually ply the roads or rent a mini cab or van to take you where you want to go.

Where to go

Try to pass by Guimaras Provincial Capitol for authentic island pasalubong, but be aware of the time since it closes at 5:00PM.

The Old Trappist Abbey is another must see.  You can also take pictures around the compound and they also produce most of the food pasalubong that you can buy around.

If you're looking for a get away beach, you'll find one at Alubihod Beach Resort.  It's a 45 minute drive from the wharf but worth the travel.  It has fine white sand and clear waters.  A boat ride can be had to tour the whole island.

Points of Interests

There are diving sites all around the island, the Guimaras Adventure Park that offers paint ball, target shooting, horsebackriding, rapelling and mountain biking, as well as caves for spelunking for the adventure lover. If history is what you're looking for there are the lighthouses, and other landmarks at Buenavista.
